One certified anthracite analysis. Four figures decide everything about how an anthracite behaves — how much carbon there is, how much ash comes with it, how little volatile matter is left to burn off, and how dry it arrives.

Proximate analysis as reported on the producer certificate. The fuel ratio is calculated from the reported fixed carbon and volatile matter, not separately measured. Total sulfur, calorific value and size were not stated on this certificate; they are determined and reported per batch on the Certificate of Analysis, and we will not quote a figure for them ahead of that. Independent inspection can be arranged at the buyer’s cost.

Anthracite is usually specified by size band as much as by chemistry — filter media, sinter fuel, injection coal and recarburiser all want different cuts of the same coal. How we screen, certify and ship anthracite. Terms can be adapted by agreement — tell us what your process needs.

Minimum Order Quantity
500 MT for bulk vessel or a single border consignment. Truck-load quantities are available for ex-mine and border delivery, and trial tonnages can be arranged so you can burn or coke the material before committing.
Packaging
Bulk loading, or 1–1.5 MT woven jumbo bags, or 25–50 kg bags for filter media and carbon-additive grades. Screened to the agreed fraction before loading.
Incoterms & Loading Ports
EXW, FOB, CFR and CIF (Incoterms® 2020). Ex-mine either customs-cleared or uncleared, delivered to the Rimdan or Mirjaveh/Taftan border crossings, or FOB Bandar Abbas and Bandar Imam Khomeini.
Quality Certification
Batch-specific CoA with every shipment covering fixed carbon, ash, volatile matter, moisture, total sulfur and calorific value. Independent inspection by SGS, Bureau Veritas or an inspector of your choice can be arranged at the buyer’s cost.

Storage & Handling
Store dry and covered. Anthracite is far less prone to self-heating than bituminous coal — there is very little volatile matter left to oxidise — but it is brittle, so minimise drop heights during transfer. Every extra drop makes fines, and on a filter media or sinter grade the fines are the part you cannot use.

A batch-specific CoA is issued with every shipment. Third-party inspection by SGS, Bureau Veritas or an inspector of your choice can be arranged at the buyer’s cost.

Anthracite — Frequently Asked Questions

What makes this an anthracite rather than a bituminous coal?
The ratio between the carbon and the volatile matter. At 83.9% fixed carbon against 7.7% volatile matter the fuel ratio is about 10.9, and a coal only reaches that by having been metamorphosed well past the bituminous range. In practice it means the coal burns with almost no flame and very little smoke, holds its shape instead of caking, and delivers its energy as radiant heat over a long burn rather than in a quick volatile flare.
Why is the low ash figure important?
Because in most anthracite applications the ash is pure nuisance. In a sinter mix or a recarburiser it reports straight into the slag and has to be fluxed away; in a filter bed it is the fraction that breaks down and washes out. At 8.4% this is a genuinely low-ash coal — well under half what several of our thermal grades carry.
Can it be used as a recarburiser or carbon additive in steelmaking?
It is used for that, and the 83.9% fixed carbon and 0.5% moisture are the two figures that make it viable — wet carbon additive is both a yield problem and a safety one. What we cannot tell you from this certificate is the sulfur, and sulfur is usually the deciding parameter for a carbon raiser. Ask us for the batch analysis before you design it into a heat.
Is it suitable for water filtration media?
Anthracite is the standard upper layer in a dual-media filter, above sand, and the hardness and low ash here suit that. But filter media is specified by effective size and uniformity coefficient, not by proximate analysis, so it has to be screened and graded to your standard. Send us the specification you are working to and we will confirm what we can screen to it.
What sulfur and calorific value does it have?
Neither was stated on the analysis we hold, so we will not put a number on this page. Both are determined and reported on the batch Certificate of Analysis. If sulfur or calorific value is a hard constraint for you, tell us at enquiry stage and we will have a current sample analysed before quoting rather than after.
What sizes is anthracite supplied in?
Screened to order — the certificate we hold does not fix a size, because the size is set by what the coal is for. Sinter fuel, injection coal, recarburiser and filter media are four different cuts. Tell us the band you need with your oversize and undersize tolerances and we will confirm feasibility and lead time.
