Grades & Chemical Analysis

Three grades separated by what is measured, not by how white the crystal looks. Extra pure covers the pharmacopoeial limits; the reagent grade adds a full trace-anion panel; the standard material is a certified reference lot. Select a grade to view its full analysis.

The volumetric standard is a certified reference material, so its assay and uncertainty are lot-specific by design and are stated on the certificate rather than as a specification band. Unit-less limits are transcribed as they appear on the source certificate.

Bespoke Supply

Need bulk industrial or de-icing salt instead?

These are the refined and reagent grades. For rock, solar and washed industrial salt in bulk tonnages, and for compacted tablet salt, see the salt family pages — or tell us the tonnage and grade you need and we will quote it directly.

Applications

At this purity sodium chloride stops being a commodity and becomes a reagent — bought for what is absent from it rather than what is in it.

Pharmaceutical Manufacture

Saline solutions, IV fluids and dialysis concentrate.

Analytical Chemistry

Standardisation of silver nitrate and argentometric titration.

Laboratory Reagent

General bench reagent and buffer preparation.

Biotechnology & Media

Buffers, cell culture media and protein purification.

Instrument Calibration

Conductivity and salinity meter calibration solutions.

Food Analysis

Reference material in food and beverage testing laboratories.

Electrophoresis & Molecular Biology

Ionic strength adjustment in electrophoresis buffers.

Cosmetics & Personal Care

High-purity salt for saline sprays and formulations.

Chlor-Alkali Feedstock

High-purity brine where membrane cells demand low calcium.

Packaging, Logistics & Trading Terms

How we pack, certify and ship high-purity sodium chloride. Terms can be adapted by agreement — tell us what your operation needs.

Minimum Order Quantity
Pack sizes from 1 kg upwards for reagent grades; 1 × 20 ft container for bagged extra pure material. Trial quantities available for qualification.
Packaging
Extra pure grade in 25 kg bags or 1 MT jumbo bags. Reagent grades in 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg polyethylene containers; reference material in 100 g glass.
Incoterms & Loading Ports
EXW, FOB, CFR and CIF (Incoterms® 2020). Standard loading at Bandar Abbas and Bandar Imam Khomeini; other ports by arrangement.
Quality Certification
Certificate of Analysis with every lot. The volumetric standard carries a certified assay and assigned uncertainty traceable to NIST SRMs. SGS / Bureau Veritas inspection at buyer’s cost.
Lead Time
7–14 days for standard grades after order confirmation; 15–25 days for pharmacopoeial packs or specially packed material.
Storage & Handling
Store below +30 °C in tightly closed containers in a dry place. Sodium chloride is mildly hygroscopic and will cake if bags take on moisture; for reagent and reference grades keep containers sealed between uses so the loss-on-drying figure stays inside 0.5%.

Certificate of Analysis

A batch-specific CoA is issued with every shipment. Third-party inspection by SGS, Bureau Veritas or an inspector of your choice can be arranged at the buyer’s cost.

Ready to quote

Send us your grade, tonnage, destination port and packaging and we will return a firm FOB/CFR/CIF price with lead time.

Sodium Chloride — Frequently Asked Questions

How do these grades differ from your bulk industrial salt?
Completely, in what is measured. Bulk rock and solar salt is sold on NaCl percentage, insolubles and moisture in thousand-tonne lots. These grades are sold on what is absent: the reagent grade certifies bromides at 100 ppm, sulfate at 200 ppm and phosphates at 25 ppm, and the acidity limit is ten times tighter than the extra pure grade. For bulk tonnage see our salt family pages.
Which grade do I need?
Extra pure for pharmaceutical manufacture and food-analysis work — it carries the pharmacopoeial limits on magnesium and alkaline earth metals, acidity and loss on drying. Laboratory reagent where you need the full trace-anion panel. The volumetric standard only if you are standardising silver nitrate or another titrant against a certified reference.
What does the volumetric standard certify?
It is a certified reference material traceable to NIST standard reference materials. Its assay and assigned uncertainty are determined for each lot and stated on the certificate, which is what makes it usable for standardising volumetric solutions under ISO, USP, BP, JP, EP and INSO 18069 protocols.
Do you supply elemental impurity and residual solvent data?
Yes. For the laboratory reagent grade, elemental impurities, heavy metals and residual solvents are reported on the lot certificate rather than as a fixed specification band, because the values are batch-dependent. Ask for the CoA of the lot on offer before ordering.
How should high-purity sodium chloride be stored?
Below +30 °C, in a dry place, in tightly closed containers. Salt is mildly hygroscopic and picks up water from humid air; on a reagent grade that shows up immediately as a loss-on-drying figure drifting towards the 0.5% limit. Reseal containers between uses.
What pack sizes are available?
Reagent and extra pure grades in 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg polyethylene containers, the reference material in 100 g glass, and bagged extra pure material in 25 kg bags or 1 MT jumbo bags for larger requirements.
