MEG Supplier & Exporter — Fibre and Standard Grade Monoethylene Glycol
C₂H₆O₂ Monoethylene Glycol · Fibre & Standard Grade
Monoethylene glycol at 99.8% minimum purity in two works standards. Both certify diethylene glycol and water below 0.08%, iron below 0.1 mg/kg and UV transmittance at 220, 275 and 350 nm; the fibre grade holds the tighter optical and trace-aldehyde limits a polyester or PET line is qualified on. Supplied under nitrogen blanket in ISO tanks or new drums with a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis.

Grades & Chemical Analysis
Two works standards, both at 99.8% purity. Eleven of the sixteen certified properties are identical; the five that differ are the optical and trace-carbonyl limits, which is exactly where a polyester line is sensitive. Select a grade to view its full analysis.

Boiling range and distillation are measured at 0.1013 MPa (760 mm Hg). Fibre grade ash can be tightened to 10 mg/kg on request. The two standards report aldehyde against different reference compounds — formaldehyde and acetaldehyde — so those two limits are not directly comparable. Values are the acceptance limits carried on the batch certificate.
The Five Properties That Differ
Eleven of the sixteen certified properties are identical between the two standards. If your specification does not name any of the five below, either grade will meet it.
| Property | Fibre Grade | Standard Grade |
|---|---|---|
| UV Transmittance at 220 nm | 80% min | 70% min |
| Aldehydes | 8 mg/kg max (as formaldehyde) | 10 wt ppm max (as acetaldehyde) |
| Chlorides | 0.05 mg/kg max | 0.1 wt ppm max |
| Ash | 50 mg/kg max | 0.005 g/100 mL max |
| Distillation, 5–95 vol% Range | Not certified | 1 °C max |
The ash limits are close to equivalent once converted — 0.005 g per 100 mL of a liquid at 1.115 g/mL is roughly 45 mg/kg — they are simply reported per volume rather than per mass. UV at 220 nm is the one that usually decides the grade: it is the only test that catches the trace aromatics and carbonyls that yellow a PET chip during polymerisation.

Applications
Roughly nine tenths of world MEG goes into polyester in one form or another; the rest is antifreeze, resins and gas processing.
Polyester Fibre & Yarn
Reacted with PTA to make PET fibre, filament and staple.
PET Resin & Packaging
Bottle-grade resin for beverages and food packaging.
Antifreeze & Coolants
Engine and industrial coolant with corrosion inhibitors.
Unsaturated Polyester Resins
UPR and alkyd resin production for coatings and composites.
Natural Gas Dehydration
Hydrate inhibition and water removal in gas processing.
Heat Transfer Fluids
Secondary coolant loops in HVAC and process chilling.
Humectants & Plasticizers
Cellophane, adhesives, inks, leather and paper.
De-icing Fluids
Aircraft and runway de-icing formulations.
Solvent & Intermediate
Feedstock for glycol ethers, esters and 1,4-dioxane-free specialities.
Packaging, Logistics & Trading Terms
How we load, blanket, certify and ship bulk MEG. Terms can be adapted by agreement — tell us what your operation needs.
- Minimum Order Quantity
- 1 × 20 ft ISO tank (approx. 20 MT). Larger parcels by bulk vessel. Drummed trial quantities available for qualification.
- Packaging
- ISO tank container, 220 L (220 kg net) new drums four to a strapped pallet, or bulk parcel. Drums and tanks are supplied under a nitrogen blanket.
- Incoterms & Loading Ports
- EXW, FOB, CFR and CIF (Incoterms® 2020). Standard loading at Bandar Abbas and Bandar Imam Khomeini; other ports by arrangement.
- Quality Certification
- Batch-specific CoA with every shipment covering purity, DEG, water, colour, iron, chlorides, ash and UV transmittance at all three wavelengths. SGS / Bureau Veritas inspection at buyer’s cost.
- Lead Time
- 7–14 days for standard grades after order confirmation; 15–25 days when new drums or dedicated tank capacity have to be scheduled.
- Storage & Handling
- Store under a nitrogen blanket at ambient temperature in closed containers away from oxidising agents. MEG is strongly hygroscopic — an open drum picks up water and fails the 0.08% limit long before anything else on the certificate moves. Harmful if swallowed; a Safety Data Sheet ships with every consignment.
Certificate of Analysis
A batch-specific CoA is issued with every shipment. Third-party inspection by SGS, Bureau Veritas or an inspector of your choice can be arranged at the buyer’s cost.
