Kaolin — Certified Chemical Analysis

The published analysis in full. Alumina sets the refractoriness and the fired strength; iron and titania between them set how white the body fires.

Bespoke Production

Need calcined kaolin or a specific brightness?

If none of the grades above matches your target chemistry, fineness, or packaging, tell us your requirements — we produce custom grades to your exact specification.

Applications

Kaolin is bought for whiteness, particle shape and chemical inertness — a plate-shaped clay that fires white and does not react with what it is mixed into.

Ceramics & Porcelain

Body former in tableware, sanitaryware and technical ceramics.

Paper Coating & Filling

Gloss, opacity and printability in coated and filled paper.

Paint & Coatings

Extender pigment controlling sheen, opacity and titania demand.

Rubber & Plastics

Reinforcing and semi-reinforcing filler in cable and moulded goods.

Refractories

Fireclay body and grog in refractory brick and mortar.

Fibreglass & Cement

Alumina source in fibreglass batch and white cement blends.

Packaging, Logistics & Trading Terms

How we mill, bag, certify and ship kaolin. Terms can be adapted by agreement — tell us what your operation needs.

Minimum Order Quantity
1 × 20 ft container (approx. 25 MT) bagged. 500 MT minimum for bulk vessel. Trial quantities available for qualification.
Packaging
25 kg and 50 kg PP bags, 1–1.5 MT woven jumbo bags, or bulk. Milled grades bagged with a moisture-barrier liner on request.
Incoterms & Loading Ports
EXW, FOB, CFR and CIF (Incoterms® 2020). Standard loading at Bandar Abbas and Bandar Imam Khomeini; other ports by arrangement.
Quality Certification
Batch-specific CoA with every shipment covering Al₂O₃, Fe₂O₃, TiO₂ and loss on ignition. SGS / Bureau Veritas inspection at buyer’s cost.
Lead Time
7–14 days for standard grades after order confirmation; 15–25 days for custom-milled or specially packed material.
Storage & Handling
Store under cover on pallets and keep dry. Kaolin is chemically stable with no shelf-life limit, but damp clay cakes in the bag and has to be re-milled before it will disperse, which is the property most of its uses depend on.

Certificate of Analysis

A batch-specific CoA is issued with every shipment. Third-party inspection by SGS, Bureau Veritas or an inspector of your choice can be arranged at the buyer’s cost.

Kaolin — Frequently Asked Questions

What alumina content does your kaolin certify?
20.28% Al₂O₃ against 67.66% SiO₂, with 9.48% loss on ignition determined by ED-XRF. That loss is the chemically bound water in the kaolinite lattice, driven off between roughly 400 and 700 °C, and it is why calcined kaolin assays higher on alumina than the raw clay does.
How white does it fire?
Iron is 0.15% and titania 0.20%, which are the two oxides that discolour a fired body. That is a usable figure for tableware, sanitaryware and filler work. If you are firing to a specific brightness target, send it with the enquiry — brightness is measured on the fired test piece, not inferred from the chemistry, so we would confirm it against your firing schedule rather than promise a number here.
Do you supply calcined kaolin?
Calcination is arranged to order rather than held as a standard grade. Tell us the application — paint extender, cable filler and refractory grog all want different calcination and milling — and we will confirm what the plant can produce.
What size is the raw material supplied in?
The certificate gives a minimum size of 40 mm, which is lump as quarried and washed. Milled powder is produced to order, so give us the mesh or micron cut your process needs and we will confirm it before quoting.
Is your kaolin suitable for paper coating?
The chemistry is in the right region — low iron, low alkali and no magnesia. Paper coating is decided on particle-size distribution and brightness as much as on chemistry, though, so send your target curve and we will confirm what the mill can hold before we quote rather than after.
What is the minimum order quantity for kaolin?
One 20 ft container, approximately 25 MT, for bagged material. Bulk vessel shipments start at 500 MT. Trial quantities can be arranged so you can qualify the clay in your own body, coating or compound before committing to a full order.
